Bees are part of our everyday life. Bees offer us precious products, in terms of nutritional and therapeutic qualities, such as Royal Jelly, Propolis, Pollen and of course thousand-flavored honey for our daily pleasure. Bees are also absolutely fundamental to the pollinization process. The survival of more than 80% of the world’s plant species, as well as that of 84% of cultivated crop plants in Europe relies on bees.

As a major pollinizing insect, bees are indispensable to the everyday mechanics of ecosystems, as well as to plant and animal biodiversity and to agriculture. Bees are, what’s more, exceptional biological indicators, unique watchdogs of environmental quality.

Bees are irreplaceable ecological and agronomical engineers. But the survival of bees and other pollinizing insects is currently jeopardized. The underevaluated, agricultural use of certain ultratoxic pesticides has been decimating billions of bees each year over the past decade. The disappearance of pollinizing entomofauna would cause a major, unprecedented ecological catastrophe, and threat to the future of Mankind…Yet bees do not benefit from any kind of protection that would allow their preservation from the species’ greatest predator : human beings.

These insecticides are also toxic to the environment and remain under constant scrutiny as to their impact on human health. Terre d’Abeilles considers that a coordinated, specific form of action is necessary in order to obtain rigorous European legislation in the field of phytosanitary products, one that would respect bees and other pollinizing insects, human health, and the environment.

This is the ambitious goal that we thrive to accomplish. It requires the support of great numbers of citizens, to whom Terre d’Abeilles would like to associate you. Through this website, we’d like to help you learn more about bees, about their essential ecological role and also to help you take action. In order to point out behavior threatful to their survival and that of other pollinizing insects. To preserve the quality of their natural habitat and of our own natural environment.
